Thread Vein Removal Treatment for Legs (Medical Authorisation Approved)
Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation where all your questions are answered and you are assessed for your suitability to proceed.
Sclerotherapy is effective in removing thread veins from the body and legs - this is a relatively simple non surgical treatment which only takes 30-40 minutes. There is no downtime, and it is faster and more effective than other methods. A very fine needle is used to inject a solution into the vein, which causes it to perish and over a course of treatments, disappear completely. The number of treatment sessions depends on how many areas need to be treated but we generally recommend on average 4 treatments.

Diathermy is an advanced technique to reduce and eliminate, individual visible surface capillaries (thread Veins) and spider veins, on the face and upper body. It can also remove unsightly blemishes such as Skin Tags and Moles. A local anesthetic is applied to numb the skin. Then the tip of the finest, smallest probe possible (about the size of an eyelash) is introduced along the line of the capillary and a tiny energy current is discharged. This "dries up" and destroys the vessel which often disappears as it is being treated. Further treatments may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.
In the case of skin tags the current destroys the vessels 'feeding' the blemish 'starving' it of nourishment resulting in its eventual demise.
After treatment the skin will be pink from the heat and may also be a little puffy in areas, although this will settle down in a few hours. After a few days, tiny scabs may form but over the next few days everything should have settled down.
While the veins disappear immediately, they are still healing and final results will only be seen after 4-6 weeks. The process can be repeated at this point if necessary. It's a good idea to wear sunscreen in the summer months.
Facial Thread Veins
These are not broken capillaries but rather permanently dilated capillaries. They have very thin walls which constantly dilate and constrict. As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated. There are numerous causes including: ageing, hereditary pregnancy, the rubbing of spectacles, smoking, energetic sports, temperature extremes and harsh weather exposure, hormones and skin fragility.
A Spider Naevus is a central dilated blood vessel, with smaller capillaries radiating from it like the legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the cheeks.
